"The core 3constraints around networking is because AI is 4fundamentally network-5starved."
Jeetu Patel says some of the constraints include 6bandwidth demands, 7energy consumption, and safety and security.
"If you imagine what the world would look like if we didn't have these infrastructure constraints, you would actually be moving at an even faster pace with AI than where we are right now."
Patel says new networks are 8rolling out to handle AI's needs.
In the meantime, he believes it's equally important to focus on 9outdated networks since they pose safety and security risks including cyberattacks, 10data breaches and 11outages.
"The outdated networks need to be 12patched, they need to be updated, they need to be refreshed on a regular basis."
97% of IT leaders surveyed see modernizing networks as crucial to 13deploying AI, according to Cisco Research.
Cisco says that CEOs and IT leaders believe improved infrastructure could add value to businesses by driving revenue and providing cost savings.
"There's only going to be two kinds of companies in the world: companies that are very 14dexterous with the use of AI and companies that really struggle for15 relevance. And what we want to do is provide the infrastructure so that every company is in the first category, not the second, and they can actually use AI to the fullest potential that they can have."
