Rents Rising Nationwide As Housing Market Slows? 주택 시장이 둔화되고 있는 가운데 주택 임대료는 전국적으로 상승해 If your 1rent is going up, you’re not alone. Despite new data showing the housing market appears to be slowing, rents are still high and 2soaring across the country. “Yeah, I pay it every month. I don’t pay it on time. I pay when I get it.” A recent survey by housing lender Freddie Mac found nearly 60% of 3renters saw a rent increase during the past year while just 38% of renters say they saw their 4income go up. “There’s times when I 5get nervous too, because I have to 6prioritize, you know.” “Rents going up for the same reasons that everything is getting more 7expensive. There’s just more money flowing around in the economy from the 8lax monetary policy of the last two years and that is 9coming home to roost.” Meanwhile, a report out this week shows new home sales fell by 12.6% in July from the previous month. That’s according to data released by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development and the US Census Bureau which points to rising housing prices and rising mortgage rates for the recent 10decline in sales. “We don’t have enough homes in this country. So people are 11scrambling to find open apartments, apartment rents are going up and it’s just really difficult for anybody who’s trying to make ends meet.” Daryl Fairweather, chief economist at Redfin says there are some places where rent increases are starting to slow including some major cities like San Francisco. “People aren’t gonna 12tolerate this kind of rent increases with 13remote work. They’re gonna pack up and go somewhere else with their money they can get them further.” 1 rent 주택 임대료, 월세 2 soaring 치솟는 3 renter 세입자 4 income 수입 5 get nervous 긴장하다, 걱정하다 6 prioritize 우선순위를 세우다 7 expensive 비싼 8 lax monetary policy (돈을 많이 풀어두는) 느슨한 통화정책 9 come home to roost 자업자득이다, 이전에 한 일의 대가를 치르다 10 decline 감소하다 11 scramble (경쟁하듯) 서로 밀치다, 앞다투다 12 tolerate 참다, 견디다 13 remote work 재택근무
