Summer Travel Tips
여름 여행 꿀팁
The summer travel season 1is underway and from near record gas prices to 2soaring 3air fares, it will cost you more to 4get away this year than in the past. But Consumer Reports has ways to help you cut the costs of that summer getaway.
A big way to save: drive instead of fly. Even with high gas prices you’ll still save a lot by choosing a destination that’s 5drivable. And there are ways to get discounts 6at the pump. Analyst at Bankrate recommends loading your rewards credit card into a gas station’s payment app that can give you as much as 10 cents off a gallon of gas when you pay that way. And Gas Buddy and Gas Guru are apps that can help find the best price on gas.
But if you do choose to fly for your summer trip use Google Flights or an app like Hopper to show you the best day to travel. Fares can 7varywidely 8depending on the day of the week. Tuesday and Wednesday tend to be cheaper. Thursday flights start to creep higher as people book weekend trips.
And 9double check your credit card. Some require you to opt in for travel 10perks.
Another money saving tip: when you get where you’re going, look out for cheaper, 11overlooked 12attractions. Parks, beaches and hiking trails can all be 13inexpensive options that get you outdoors as well.
