US Basketball Star Brittney Griner Appears In Russian Court
미 농구스타 브리트니 그라이너, 러시아 법정에 출두해
As American basketball star Brittney Griner is led to a Russian court for the first hearing of her 1trial...
“It’s really difficult.”
... her wife 2struggles at home.
“Because it’s a hundred... it’s over 130 days and BG’s still not back.”
The 3prosecution argues Griner 4had the intent to 5import 6cannabis oil into Russia, when she 7was detained at a Moscow airport on February 17th. They say Griner was carrying two 8cartridges, totaling less than a gram of hash oil.
“... [INAUDIBLE] most cases, it wouldn’t even be prosecuted in the United States.”
While the Kremlin claims the case is not 9politically 10motivated. Some have speculated that Griner could be released in a possible 11prisoner swap but her lawyers said they 12were unaware of any plans.
“The United States government, at the very highest levels, is working very hard [INAUDIBLE] to bring Ms. Griner as well as all wrongfully detained U.S. citizens safely home.”
But Griner’s wife 13has her doubts.
“I don’t think the maximum amount of effort is being done.”
She and other activists are urging President Joe Biden to 14strike a deal with Russia to get Griner home.
