From 1groceries to gas the 2cashless economy keeps growing. The Pew Research Center found 41% of Americans don’t 3pay cash for any of their purchases in a typical week. But still, it can pay to have a little cash in your pocket. CNBC recently looked at when cash could 4come in handy, and how much you’ll wanna have on hand.
Most people prefer credit or debit cards as forms of payment. And credit cards have the advantage of offering rewards and 5buyer protection as well. But 6keep in mind with rising interest rates you’ll wanna 7pay the balance in full every month.
As for cash, $50 is the amount some financial pros recommend carrying. That’s generally considered enough if you encounter a business that doesn’t accept cash or if you need to tip someone. And using cash also offers the added benefits of 8privacy and 9anonymity. If you still would rather not carry cash, there are plenty of payment apps including Venmo, Zelle, Paypal and Cash App.
