Philadelphia Bridge Collapse Could Take Months to Fix
필라델피아 교량 붕괴, 수습하는 데 수개월이 걸릴 수도
People driving in southeast Pennsylvania will need to have a lot of 1patience and maybe an 2extra audiobook.
"At the moment, like okay, this is just, you know, a normal 3bump, a normal little 4brush fire."
It was anything but a brush fire. On Sunday morning, a 5tanker truck carrying a 6petroleum-based product 7caught fire under the highway on 8interstate-95 in Philadelphia, causing part of the bridge to 9collapse, 10officials say. Mark Fusetti captured this smoke-filled 11footage as he drove over the other side of the bridge.
"I thought 'Okay, maybe this is just the 12construction part.’ I didn't think for a second that the road underneath me was collapsing and that part of the highway will have to be replaced too."
Officials have started putting 13detours into place.
"We're also looking at 14interim solutions to 15connect both sides of I-95 to get traffic through the area."
Philadelphia 16Mayor Jim Kenney says the fire is 17under control and in a Tweet advised 18commuters to quote "plan for 19alternate routes or 20modes of travel."
Pennsylvania officials say traffic in the area is expected to be 21affected for months.
