Mayor Released On Bond, Arrested On Burglary Charge
보석으로 석방된 시장, 절도 혐의로 체포되다
The position of South Fulton mayor has 1gone through some 2drastic changes Saturday with the 3arrest and 4charging of Khalid Kamau for 5burglary and 6trespassing. But councilwoman Natasha Williams-Brown says some things will remain the same.
“It really will be 7business as usual when City Hall opens Monday morning. We will continue following the 8charter. We will continue following our 9ordinances and our 10resolutions the same way that we have been.”
South Fulton has had a few cycles with 11controversy since Kamau took office, including 12allegations from city officials last year of 13misuse by Kamau of his city 14sanctioned credit card, followed by the mayor asking the GBI to 15investigate the city council for 16corruption.
Then so far this year, a 17lawsuit by the city council to remove Kamau from office, an Easter egg hunt approved by the mayor being 18shut downand the 19online petition calling for part of South Fulton to break away from the city. Williams-Brown says none of it phases her.
“A lot of the chatter that has been happening in the media has really not had very much to do with the city, so much as it has revolved around people and personalities.”
Williams-Brown tells 11Alive she's ready and confident for the mayor 20pro tem position, however long that may be. She just asked the citizens of South Fulton to remain 21steadfast.
“If I'm 22called upon to do any 23official actions as the 24acting mayor, that's what I will do. The city is in good hands.”
