Jewish Communities Across The Glove On High Alert
전 세계 유대인 사회, 경계 태세 강화
The night sky lighting up as Hamas launches rockets near Sderot, Israel. The 1destruction is 2catastrophic, and the stories of survival chilling, like Lee Sasy, who was at the Nova Music Festival Saturday when Hamas attacked.
"I thought my life was going to end. I thought I was going to die."
Much of the violence by Hamas has been 3captured on camera. That's how Gaia Calderon learned her family members were4 kidnapped.
"It was so hard to watch. It's horrible that I need to find out something like that in a video."
The 5horrific images sending 6shockwaves throughout the world and putting other Jewish communities 7on high alert.
"The shock, the hurt, and the8 grief that we are feeling, every person with human9 conscience should be feeling and should feel 10devastatedat this time."
Cities across the globe11 ramping up security. France 12deploying 10,000 police officers to protect some 500 Jewish sites. In New York City, police officers are 13stationed outside 14synagogues and temples. The grief hitting here at home is at least 20 Americans are among the dead in Israel, and Americans have also been taken hostage by Hamas.
"I think we all need to 15steel ourselves for the very distinct possibility that these numbers will keep increasing."
Meanwhile, 16vigils and support 17rallies are being held across the U.S. to show support for Israel.
"That close connection18 hits home when there's a challenge like this."
