Woman On Hike Finds Dead Black Bear In Bag
하이킹을 하던 여성이 가방에 든 죽은 흑곰을 발견
At the dead end of a dirt trail Sonia Nayar was stopped in her track.
"There was a lot of smell, like a strong smell, and there were flies. A lot of flies."
Nayar couldn't believe her eyes but she knew what she saw.
"Honestly, I kind of thought it was a bear, but then I 1doubted myself because how many times do you see, what are the chances that could be a bear in that."
Next to an 2interstate, on a path Nayar says isn't 3frequently 4traveled.
"And there are not a lot of people in this trail. It is kind of hard to get to."
Wondering what to do, Nayar posted pictures and asked for 5advice on a community social media site.
"It's certainly unexpected and when you see something like that unexpected, you try to be calm and try to just call the right people to 6handleit."
First, the police who 7alerted the Animal Welfare League of Arlington.
"Can we look for 8injuries? Can we look for bullets things like that to 9figure out what was going on here."
Something they say, they don't have the answers to yet.
"If it is not bear hunting season, it is a crime to kill a bear. So we do want to make sure to either to 10rule that out or if that is the case, do more investigation into what happened."
Nayar's post to social media 11sparked nationwide interest. Mostly people upset that a black bear could be found in these woods in that 12condition.
"That shows that a lot of people really care about our wildlife and want to protect animals. And I feel the same way, we really love our 13wildlife."
And isn't alone in hoping authorities 14get to the bottom of what happened soon.
