Today's
society moves at a faster pace than ever before. Many of us get through our
days by flipping back and forth between one task and another. But how does all
this multitasking affect us? According to the article "One Thing at a
Time", many of us understand that
some kinds of multitasking can be dangerous. But too many of us think that we
can get by with multitasking because we just don't understand how bad it is for
us. The article explains new research that proves that any multitasking is bad
because it hurts our ability to focus. When we try to do many things at once,
we do everything slowly and badly. I was very interested to learn how even
regular kinds of multitasking can hurt our concentration, but what I found most
significant is that we have to actually practice focusing on one thing in order
to quit our habit of multitasking. This made me think how important it is to do
activities that can improve our concentration because they help us stop
dividing dividing our attention and stay focused on individual tasks.
Doing
many things at the same time can affect us our lives. Multitasking can affect
the mind. In others words, a single-task oriented individual can memorize more
than a person who multi-tasks. The author explained the experiment of Stanford
University, some students were asked to do all the things at the same time
while others were asked to do individual to see who memorize better by taking a
memory test. Based on the article "a tremendous among of evidence show
that the brain does better when it's performing tasks in sequence rather than
all at once . This means that the brain
work better when is only focused on one specific thing than everything at once.
For example; when I'm in my house doing my homework I always have the TV or
music on. These things affect me in a bad way because i get distracted while
I'm study by those sounds, its get difficult for me to study doing others
things.
