Mother Nature is the backbone to the survival of man on Earth. It's something we cannot waste, and must preserve with all of our power. The other side to this is that man requires Mother Nature to survive. I realize that our punishment to the environment is harsh, but we need certain things such as oil and paper to continue are daily lives. Comparing my experience of nature to those of the Transcendentalists, I see why they have such a problem with man polluting Mother Nature. They see the beauty, and complexity of a Tree, but not the needs of man. In order for man to write, he requires a paper; we can use other forms of material for paper, but trees flourish around us. So we ended up using a tree as almost a building block of life. Now that we are stuck to that system it is hard to change, even though the supply of trees is dwindling we still cannot reform. Maybe we will really become a super race when we figure how to work around nature. "Walden¡± was an interesting story of a Transcendentalist's life. Thorough showed that it is possible to live in harmony with nature. But not all men are as strong as Thorough, we rely on nature to support us because we are lazy and not self-sufficient. If all people could live just like he did at Walden Pond, then we would be in the same place that the Framers were in the 1800's. The only reason we are considered a more advanced civilization is because of the inventions that spawned to make every day life easier. Such as the printing press to spread information. That's uses the natural resource of paper. The automobile and plane were also devised to help us travel and explore, use oil. The burning of these is also a harm to Mother Nature, but necessary for man to survive in it's almost year 2000 ways. That is why Man must rape Mother Nature. That's the saddest reality.
