Life and people are
always changing, but the main values and bases of the concept of family should
always remain present. To many people, the definition of the word family is a
unity among a group of people who care and tend to each other's needs, while forming
an unbreakable bond. Therefore, family values are important and should be
cherished and nurtured. Love, support, friendship, and guidance are key
qualities necessary to form a family bond. Family is considered to be an elite
and exclusive society in which most people in today's world do not belong to or
do not have the privilege of being a part of. The love within a family teaches
a child about solidarity, which brings the teachings of virtue, sensitivity and
assertiveness. Everyone has the need to feel loved, but the best love there can
be is the love of a family. Children, who grow without a family, are more
likely to be unhappy simply because of the lack of love that they can't receive
anywhere else. The influence of family life should never be underestimated.
Some people define family as
simple genetics; however, that is not always the case. For instance, I was born
into a small family and am the youngest of three children. When I came along,
my parents were dealing with rough times and thought having a third child would
patch whatever hole had been formed in their relationship. Unfortunately, for
my sisters and me that was not the case. My parents divorced when I was five
years old and my biological father walked away from my mother and his "so-called
family forever, without ever looking back. Two years passed before my mother
met the man of her and our dreams: the man I am proud to call Dad today. He was
more than just my stepfather; he was my "dad and the man who was willing
to guide me through my childhood years and raise me when my own blood would not.
