19-year-old Santa Cruz resident Brock Johnson, a professional stunt rider, saw the record and felt he could easily 2surpass it.
"I 3got in touch with Guinness World Records and it says only 80 meters. Most of the time I go on a bike ride, I will do the bicycle surf stunt and I'll surpass 80 meters 4just about every time."
Johnson's friends are almost 5immune to the stunts that he 6pulls off including this one. They believe he can ride circles around anyone in the world even at such a young age.
"We're pretty in touch with the whole bike community on Instagram and so we've seen guys who claim to be the 'best bike surfers out there' and really none of them 7compared to the stuff Brock can do on his bike."
Now to 8the moment of truth: Johnson racing down the track with the goal at least 100 meters, 20 meters past the record. On his final 9attempt at the record, he 10hops up and begins surfing on his bike, almost as if he's 11gliding through the air. Before you know it, he's past the 100-meter mark and stops at 200 meters, 12letting out a roar of victory.
After Guinness reviews the video, he'll be a world record 13holder.
