For starters, think first about whether you really need a new phone versus just wanting the newest model. Holding out for even just a little longer means that¡¯s just one less electronic device that goes into the 3environment and into the 4recycling chain.
If your phone is 5broken first try to 6have it repaired. You can work directly with the 7manufacturer like Samsung or Apple. Other options include Best Buy or local tech shops authorized to fix your brand. Even if you have decided to move on and replace your phone you have options rather than just 8discarding it.
There are a number of organizations that accept phones to 9refurbish or sell. The Salvation Army is one, another is the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. And consider selling your old phone. It may not have much value to you, but the materials and parts in it can make it an attractive purchase for others.
