5 Iowa Dogs Featured in Puppy Bowl ÆÛÇǺ¼¿¡ ÃâÀüÇÑ ´Ù¼¸ ¸¶¸®ÀÇ ¾ÆÀÌ¿À¿Íñ¶ °³µé ¡°Here¡¯s Judy.¡± This 1underdog started off in a 2cramped, dirty cage Oklahoma. But now - she¡¯s healthy, happy. ¡°And now she¡¯s a TV star!¡± Judy¡¯s one of five Iowa 3shelter dogs to compete in Animal Planet¡¯s Puppy Bowl. And they all came from a Heinz 57, a foster-based animal rescue organization in De Soto. Amy Heinz, the shelter¡¯s director, says it all started with a phone call ten years ago. ¡°I got a call from a guy that said, ¡°hey, I¡¯m a producer from Animal Planet, we¡¯d like to have your puppy in Puppy Bowl that we saw on Petfinder.¡±¡° Now every year their shelter sends a few puppies to New York to compete in the 4free-for-all style game. Heinz says it¡¯s a great way to 5promote 6pet adoption from shelters. ¡°7Puppy mills are such a huge, huge problem in this in our country right now that they¡¯re trying to shift the spotlight to shelter pets. And look at all these cute puppies. Some are purebred dogs. And they¡¯re in the Puppy Bowl. And, you know, you can get these wonderful animals at shelters and rescues.¡± People who came out for Sunday¡¯s viewing party also got the chance to help some other furry friends... ¡°Oh, there¡¯s my baby. That¡¯s my baby.¡± ¡¦find their forever home. ¡°And this is Dusky. This is Buffy. They¡¯re just two of the nine puppies up for adoption. This Puppy Bowl field is a little less active, but just as cute as the one on the big screen.¡± These nine puppies are some of the nearly 2,000 animals a Heinz 57 rescues every year. Heinz says Sunday¡¯s Puppy Bowl party is time to celebrate adoption and the hard work of their 8volunteers. ¡°We see the very worst of mankind in this business, but it 9is offset 100 fold by the beautiful hearts of the volunteers that come and help.¡± And after a long rough gameday these pups are ready to find their forever homes.
