NFL 3Hall of Famer Terrell Davis 4opening up Wednesday about being handcuffed and escorted off the United flight Saturday by law enforcement.
"I was powerless. I couldn't do anything."
He first described the 5ordeal in an Instagram post Monday, saying during beverage service he asked a flight attendant for a cup of ice when the flight attendant didn't respond. He says he "lightly 6tapped his arm". That's when Davis says he shouted "Don't hit me".
"And then he came back and he 7placed a cup of ice on my son's 8tray."
The former Denver Broncos 9running back was traveling with his wife and three kids from Denver to California to visit Disneyland. He thought all was fine once they got the cup of ice. But when they 10landed, that all changed as FBI and law enforcement agents boarded the plane.
"They stop at me. Gentleman 11leans over. He has a big FBI on his shirt, on his jacket. And he leans over, and he's got 12handcuffs. And I'm looking at him, and he says, "Don't fight it. Don't fight it." And he puts the cuffs on me."
Davis was 13ultimately not charged, but he and his wife say the 14incident traumatized their children.
"They will never forget seeing their father handcuffed right in front of them."
United saying, "This is clearly not the kind of travel experience we 15strive to provide, and we have 16reached out to Mr. Davis's team to apologize." Davis just wants to understand why this happened.
